PUBLIC NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS OF THE THERESA MUNICIPAL WATER AND SEWER UTILITY
The Theresa Municipal Water and Sewer Utility (Utility) has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (Commission) to increase water rates. The increase is necessary due to a 140.32 percent increase in gross plant investment and a 365.03 percent increase in operating expenses since the last water rate case was completed in 1997.
The total increase in water revenues requested is $200,450 which will result in an estimated overall rate increase of 121.77 percent over the water utility’s present revenues and would be implemented in two phases. The proposed Phase 1 increase of $144,855 would take effect upon the issuance of the Final Decision by the Commission. The overall Phase 2 increase of $200,450 is compared to the current rates and is an additional increase of $55,595 over Phase 1 rates. The Utility would implement the remaining Phase 2 increase of $55,595 one year after the Phase 1 rate increase.
If the request is granted, the water bill for an average residential customer with a ⅝-inch or ¾-inch meter who uses 8,000 gallons of water per quarter will increase from $65.40 to $145.68, or 122.75 percent, including the public fire protection charge after Phase 2 has been implemented.
