Destruction of Noxious Weeds
Village of Theresa – Dodge County, Wisconsin

Notice is hereby given to all persons who own, occupy, or control land within the Village of Theresa, Dodge County, Wisconsin, that pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute §66.0407, they are required by law to destroy all noxious weeds on their property before such plants bloom, produce seed, or spread to adjoining properties.

The term “destroy” means the complete eradication of weeds or the killing of weed plants above ground level using effective methods such as chemical application, mowing, tillage, cropping systems, pasturing of livestock, or any combination thereof, provided these actions prevent the plants from reaching the flowering or seeding stage.

Noxious weeds include, but are not limited to:
- Canada thistle
- Bull thistle
- Musk thistle
- Plumeless thistle
- Shattercane
- Hill mustard
- Leafy spurge
- Field bindweed (commonly known as creeping jenny)
- Garlic mustard

Additionally, this includes any weed designated as noxious by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, or by ordinance or resolution adopted by the governing body of a municipality or the county board.

Compliance with this notice is required by law. Failure to take appropriate action may result in the municipality arranging for the destruction of such weeds at the landowner’s expense.
