Wages:     Dependant on qualifications and demonstrated experience

 

Responsibilities: General police functions including patrol, processing calls for service, ordinance and traffic enforcement, maintaining public peace, protecting life and property, investigating criminal law violations, and working at the direction of the chief of police in providing community oriented policing.

 

Scheduling:

Position is for a police officer working on a part-time basis for the village. Shifts will include patrol and filling some vacant hours while officers are on vacation etc. Scheduling is flexible and meant to work both for the officer and department. Priority of scheduling is based on the part-time officer’s hours of availability and will be designed so they not to interfere with personal plans or the officers’ primary employment, etc.  Shifts may include some week days, evening and or weekend assignments.

 

Qualifications:

Seeking an individual who is self-motivated, enjoys working with people and has excellent problem solving skills. Able to function efficiently with minimal backup.  Great verbal and written communication skills; React quickly and effectively to stressful situations involving medical emergencies, family crisis situations, traffic control, quality of life ordinance enforcement, investigate complaints, process arrests, format complete detailed call for service and criminal complaint reports. Effectively testify in court  Clear and concise speech; Ability to multi-task, perform essential assignments of a police officer, efficiently use all standard law enforcement and office equipment. Ability to possess a firearm, No felony convictions; No domestic abuse convictions; Vision correctable to 20/20; High School diploma, Minimum 60 college credits; U.S Citizen, Valid driver’s license, Good driving record, Good physical condition, Currently certified or has received previous training and eligible to have their Certification activated by the State of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Training and Standard’s Board.

 

Hiring process:

Each completed packet shall include: State of Wisconsin application form DJ-LE 330, Authorization Release Form DJ-LE-305. Both forms can be obtained from the WI Department of Justice web site at  www.wilenet.org  also a Cover letter, Resume, copy of driver’s license, Birth Certificate, High School & College Transcript.  Completed application packets must be either physically submitted by mail or deliver to the police department.
